We feel lucky to call Aotearoa home. The ocean is where we sail, dive and reset. Caring for it is also why we started asking different questions about clothing.

01 / A shared beginning

A simple question.
A different direction.

How hard could it be to find clothing that cares for the people who make it, the people who wear it and the places we love?

As engineers and ocean lovers, we thought there had to be a better way. Finding it meant looking beyond the label: asking where materials came from, how garments were made and which claims could be backed up.

Garth and Wilfried met in a shared co-working space. Conversations about kitesurfing and sustainability became a shared idea: help organisations make more thoughtful clothing choices, and make that transition easier.

That idea became LUCKE. A business built around the belief that doing business doesn’t have to cost the earth.

An appreciation
that stays with us.

LUCKE began with gratitude for the natural environment that is our playground. We replaced the “Y” in lucky with an “E” to keep the environment front of mind. A small change in the name. A lasting reminder in the decisions we make.

Garth Ellingham

Hello, I'm Garth, a former professional sailor turned founder of LUCKE, where we guide organisations toward workwear choices that benefit both people and our planet.

From racing yachts around the world, I've witnessed firsthand the toll our choices take on nature. I realised action was needed—not just talk among those who already cared. My engineering background and passion for sustainability didn't align with a world rapidly embracing disposable items, despite monumental technological advances.

Hey, I'm Wilfried, a former globetrotting engineer and now co-founder of LUCKE, committed to revolutionizing the B2B textile industry for a more sustainable future.

Raised on an island in the serene beauty of the Bay Of Plenty, New Zealand, I was immersed in the Pacific Ocean, surfing, kayaking and exploring all that nature had to offer. Looking back, I realize just how fortunate I was to have experienced such a free-spirited childhood.
